Dr. Avenetti's Care Philosophy
“As a pediatric dentist, my practice philosophy is to provide quality preventive and restorative care with a family-centered approach. I believe it’s important to provide care consistent with the best available science/evidence. I believe in creating an experience that is individualized to each person’s needs. Additionally, I am passionate about promoting a positive dental experience for children, helping to establish healthy habits and a positive attitude towards oral health that will last a lifetime.”
Background
Dr. David Avenetti, known by kids as “Dr. David,” is deeply committed to providing the highest possible quality dentistry and excellent customer service so that children and families enjoy coming to the dentist and value good oral health.
Dr. Avenetti grew up in Southern California and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. He earned his DDS degree from UCLA and was inducted in Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. He went on to complete his specialty training at the University of Washington where he concurrently earned his Master of Science in Dentistry and Master of Public Health degrees. Dr. Avenetti is Board Certified (Diplomat) through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Avenetti moved to Chicago after residency to accept a faculty position at the University of Illinois Chicago where he now serves as the Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. In his role, he teaches didactic courses, supervises residents in clinics, serves in a variety of leadership roles, participates in service activities, and collaborates on federally-funded research projects aimed at improving children’s oral health. He is also on staff at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System where he works with residents to provide dental care for patients in the operating room setting, after-hours emergencies, and educational rotations.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, music, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
